The Austin Community Law Center offers internship opportunities for graduate and talented internship students.
We organize free legal clinics for low-income families of school-aged children, drawing on volunteer attorneys, interpreters, and notaries to offer critical legal services that would otherwise cost of thousands of dollars.
Interns work with campus-level service providers to organize new clinics for families of students enrolled in Austin ISD, Manor ISD, and Del Valle ISD. They also plan and implement new services within the clinics to meet attendees’ other basic needs, though means such as partnering with other nonprofits and volunteer programs.
Starting in 2018, interns will be eligible to receive a $200 monthly stipend. Ongoing eligibility will depend on funding.
Interns are asked to commit to 10-20 hours a week for at least three months.
Priority will be given to applicants with relevant educational or practical experience working with low-income communities and/or in the provision of social services.
Bilingual students are encouraged to apply.
